We’re almost through November and I’m starting to get serious about preparing for Elf on the Shelf. (As an aside, can you believe Thanksgiving is over!?!). My husband and I are lucky because we can work remotely, so we typically stay with family for a week around the holidays. It gives our kids time to play with their cousins and allows us to miss some of the busiest travel days. This means that our elf will show up at our house for part of the time and the rest of the time at my family’s, so we need to figure out how to transport the elf. Do we have her appear at our house one night and the next at my family’s? Or do we have the elf travel with us in some sort of container? I talked to several parents who have been doing Elf on the Shelf for years about how to handle this because we didn’t want our kids or my nieces to see us touching the elf and decided to put the elf in a snow globe so she could travel safely in the car with us. This means we don’t have to hide the elf on the way down, which makes things just a little bit simpler. I ordered the 5-inch globe in the intermediate list of supplies, and our elf fits, but I think a 6in globe would give us more room to pose the elf. I made a list of basic supplies for people who want to keep things simple this year, intermediate list for the family’s that want to keep it mostly simple with a few more complicated poses and a list of supplies for overachievers. Hopefully they help you!
